Veteran Malayalam actress T. Vasanthi dead

Film and theatre artiste Thodupuzha Vasanthi died here early Tuesday morning. She was 65. She died at a private hospital in Vazhakkulam at 4.30 am this morning. She was suffering from throat cancer, was a diabetic and when it aggravated, her right leg had to be amputated. She was undergoing treatment for the past one year and was taking rest at her family house in Thodupuzha. She will be cremated this evening at the premises of her brother’s house in Thodupuzha.
She was a familiar face in Malayalam films and theatre essaying all kinds of roles. She has acted in almost 450 film. Her first film Ente Neelakasham released in 1976 and her last film was 2016 release Ithu Thanda Police. Her role as Rajamma in K G George’s Yavanika helped her to get more roles. She started getting good roles in the films of noted directors. Her role in Aalolam, Novemberinte Nashtram, Godfather and Karyam Nisaram was noteworthy. She was able to act in films of Bharathan, Padmarajan, Joshy, Hariharan and P G Viswambaran. Even though she acted in so many films, she bagged awards for her role in plays.She came to the drama field as per the wish of her father K P Ramakrishnan Nair, who was also a theatre actor, wish. She joined Sharangapany’s troupe and became active in the field. She later reached Udaya Studio and from there entered the film industry.
