Reported By 16 Jul 2020
If you have been following the latest stories from Mollywood, the controversy over the ownership of a character named “Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan” would be known to you by now.
Well, if you don’t, here are the basics.
Recently, producer Tomichan Mulakuppadam announced the 250th movie of Suresh Gopi, with Mathews Thomas as the director. Though the title of the movie was not revealed, the hero’s name in the movie was announced: Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan.
The first twist happened when scenarist Jinu Abraham went to the court claiming that the character was originally conceived by him and that the project has already been announced as Kaduva, with Shaji Kailas as the director and Prithviraj as the hero. According to Jinu, Prithviraj’s character was called, yes you guessed it right, Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan.
The next twist happened when Renji Panicker revealed that Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan is a real life person and it was his idea to write about his eventful life. He had planned it sometime back with Shaji Kailas as the director and Mohanlal as the hero. The project, Vyakhram, has now been shelved.
The latest twist comes now, when Mathrubhumi talked to the “real life Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan”, who said that he will agree only Renji Panicker’s version and won’t let any of the other two projects happen.
