Aashiq Abu reveals his love for music, which began in his teenage days

Mollywood director Aashiq Abu needs no introduction as his movies themselves do the job. The filmmaker who has directed a handful of great entertainers, opens up about the time when he started thinking about cinema and showbiz. In a recent interactive session on social media, the director opened up that his passion for cinema began at the age of 19-20. When asked about whether he loves Quentin Tarantino or Christopher Nolan, the filmmaker replies ‘both’. Aashiq Abu also admits that he regards veteran filmmaker Kamal as his guru. Aashiq Abu began his career assisting director Kamal.


One of the talented filmmakers in M-Town, Aashiq Abu marked his debut in direction with ‘Daddy Cool’, starring Mammootty. He grabbed the attention of the audience with his second directorial ‘Salt ‘N’ Pepper’. His third directorial venture, ‘22 Female Kottayam’ was a breakthrough in his career. Aashiq Abu’s recent directorial is ‘Virus’, a medical thriller. The movie that portrayed the gloomy days of the Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala, in 2018 earned pan-Indian attention. The multi-starrer also won the hearts of the audience. After watching ‘Virus’, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan invited the filmmaker to his Mannat residence. Aashiq Abu will be directing Shah Rukh Khan in his next. As per the sources, the team is planning to begin the movie by the end of 2020.
