Sexy Durga by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, receives the Hivos Tiger Award 2017 at Rotterdam!

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's 'Sexy Durga' won the Tiger award in the Hivos Tiger Competition, International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). With this prestigious award 'Sexy Durga' has made a mark in the history of Indian by becoming the FIRST Indian movie to win the TIGER award at the IFFR.
IFFR Jury report on 'Sexy Durga' reads as follows- "For its daring and resourceful approach in creating a mood of constant tension. The particular use of camera and acting give a sense of immediacy and momentum, while providing an insight into multi-layered power dynamics of gender, class and authority." Price money for the Tiger award worth 40000 Euro.
Touted to be a thrilling satire, Sexy Durga conveys through a fictionalized true story on how the community dishonours a woman when she is sexually abused, sensationalizing the incident and the other outrages. Rajasri Deshpande of Angry Indian Goddesses- fame plays the title role in the movie. Produced under the banner of Nivi Art Movies, the movie also stars Vishnu Vedh, Sujeesh K. S, Kannan Nair and Bilas Nair in important roles. Sexy Durga also has Pradeep Kumar, Nisthar Sait, and Arun Nair, who played key roles in Ozhivudivasathe Kali, the first movie of Sanal.
