R. Paneerselvam’s last directorial venture was 18 Vayasu which released in 2012. And now after a long hiatus of 5 years, the director is coming back to silver screen with his upcoming film Karuppan. Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Tanya Ravichandran in the lead roles, the movie is believed to be a full-fledged rural entertainer. It is set against jallikattu backdrop.
Talking about the movie, Paneerselvam said, “Vijay Sethupathi sir essays a bull tamer and the way he has transformed into the character was amazing. I would narrate the scene to him, but his presence would make all the difference. In terms of action, it’s a visual treat to his fans. Women will hail the film.”
He said that there are no punch lines in the movie as Sethupathi asked him not to keep any punch dialogues. Speaking about roping in Tanya for the flick, Paneerselvam said, “No one else would have justified the role she plays in the film. She has given an intense performance.” The film also has Pasupathy who will play Tanya’s brother, while Bobby Simhaa will be seen in a villainous character.
