Thazhvaram is a 1990 Indian Malayalam revenge-thriller film directed by Bharathan and written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair, starring Mohanlal, Salim Ghouse, Anju, Sumalatha, and Sankaradi in the lead roles. It tells the tale of Balan who's on the lookout for revenge against Raju for the murder of Balan's wife Raji. Set in the backdrop of a village in a valley along Palakkad, it is influenced by the spaghetti western genre, especially slightly based famous title Once upon a time in the west and has achieved a cult status in Kerala since its release.
