The story is based on the true incident where a group of Malayali nurses working in the Iraqi city of Tikrit were held captive inside a hospital when the terrorist outfit ISIS captured a section of the Gulf country in 2014.

When the story begins, Sameera (Parvathy) is a nurse working in a hospital in Kerala, struggling hard to take care of her family. She has recently been divorced from Faisal (Asif Ali) and has left her son with him, when she was made to choose between the child and her profession.

Sameera is waiting for a visa to Iraq, where she would get a good salary. Her colleague, a male nurse named Shaheed (Kunchacko Boban), is her greatest support.

The group of nurses who reach Iraq are not really aware about the extent of the situation there, initially. It’s a war zone and they have to take care of patients in pathetic conditions. It’s the story of a young woman, who goes through terrible situations in her life, in the backdrop of war.

The focus shifts to the crisis situation that the nurses face almost with no real help from anyone and the involvement of the Indian embassy that comes later.

Here is a big round of applause for the sincerity with which this film has been written and presented. Sanu John Varghese’ brilliant visuals add to the effect.

Among the highlights of the film are its spectacular performances. Parvathy once again proves what an amazingly talented actor she is. She looks so real and you are totally moved by the tough situations that her character goes through.

Kunchacko Boban performs his role with great maturity. Asif Ali is there only for a brief period but he is impressive as well.

But it is Fahadh Faasil who eventually steals the attention towards the latter half with a stellar show. He is so genuine and it is a delight to watch him convey his emotions through his eyes in the final scene.

Take Off is an absolutely honest film with its heart at the right place. It’s one of those rare gems that refuses to leave you hours after you are out of the theatre. This one is a must watch!
