Osthe  is a 2011 Indian Tamil action film directed by S. Dharani, starring Silambarasan. A remake of 2010 blockbuster Hindi film Dabangg, directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap and written by Dileep Shukla, it featured Githan Ramesh, Richa Gangopadhyay, Sonu Sood, reprising his role from the original, Nassar and Revathi in supporting roles.  The film released worldwide on 9 December 2011. Upon release, the film generally received mixed reviews but was declared 'average' at the box office. The film was dubbed into Hindi as Policewala Dabangg. The Telugu dubbed version was released as Thimmiri on 25 April 2015.The film was officially launched with a pooja held at the AVM studios in Chennai on 10 May 2011,  while filming commenced on 26 June in Mysore. Almost the entire film was shot in and around Mysore in a single schedule, which was completed by mid-August.  Osthe collected 7 crores worldwide on the first day. The film was reported to have got a "flying start at the box Office". The total worldwide gross is 36 crores at the box office. The film was a profitable venture.
