| Keerthi Chakra is a 2006 Indian Malayalam war film written and directed by Major Ravi, in his debut directorial. It features Mohanlal in lead as Major Mahadevan and Jiiva in a supporting role. The film is based on true events related to insurgency in the Indian controlled region of Kashmir. The political situation of the conflict is portrayed from an Indian perspective in the film.Major Mahadevan, along with other NSG commandos, is assigned to counter terrorist activities in Kashmir. In a turn of events, a group of terrorists conspire to attack the regiment. The film, the first in the Major Mahadevan film series, was released worldwide on 3 August 2006. The title is derived from the Indian gallantry award, Kirti Chakra. It was a critical and commercial success at the box office. |
