The story is all about a feudallord's son Devdas falling in lovewith a poor girl Parvathi. Due todifferences in social and economicstatus, the weak-willedyouth cannot marry his childhoodplaymate and sweetheart,and Parvathi marries an oldman. However, unable to forgether, he takes to the bottle. Agolden-hearted prostituteChandramukhi befriends himand tries to make him forget hispast. But soon he rushes tomeet Parvathi in vain. Heartbroken,he dies in front of herhouse.
