Shahrukh Khan is an Indian film actor, producer, TV host, mentor and philanthropists. He has appeared in more than 50 Hindi films in genres ranging from romance to action and comedies. He was awarded with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2005, and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2007 for his contribution to films. Shahrukh has received honorary doctorate at the sixth convocation of Maulana Azad National Urdu University. SRK was born on 2 November 1965 in New Delhi, India into a Muslim family. His father, Taj Mohammed Khan was an ethnic Pathan and an Indian independence activist from Peshawar, British India and mother Lateef Fatima was the daughter of a senior government engineer. He was brought up in Mangalore for the first five years of his life. His father died of cancer when Shahrukh was 15 years old and his mother died in 1990 after prolonged illness. He has an elder sister named Shehnaz.
